Fall is here!  We are lucky enough that my mother and father-in-law have a cabin in North Georgia.  We drove up about 3hrs outside the city into the mountains where the leaves were changing and the colors were glorious.  Our weekend was spent apple picking, going to a petting zoo, on a hayride, eating apple pie and honey sticks, going for walks and sitting by the fire at night.  Margot had an amazing time with her Halmony and Halabogi, (Korean for “grandma” and “grandpa”), and Jesse and I did too!

Holiday cards are never easy.  Every year you know the holidays are creeping up and you think, “Okay…. what’s the plan this year, everybody?!!” but no one knows or cares about what you’re talking about, so you’re left to your own devices to come up with something cute and clever.  Lucky for me, my husband will eventually play along with my craziness and lend a hand.  Since Margot was born, I’ve gone through this every year, each year feeling like I need to “one-up” the previous.  I was pretty proud of last year’s card so this year had to blow it out of the water.

I decided to experiment with bokeh and get some fun shapes going.  Naturally, I went with hearts for my little sweetheart.  So I read a tutorial online, made this very sloppy lens hood with a heart cut out of it, sat Margot down in front of the Christmas tree and shot away.  Here’s a few of my favorite shots.  Choosing the final photo for the card was so hard and this one eventually won by popular vote.  I’m pretty pleased with the results and I wish all of them could have made the cut.  I used Tiny Prints to make the card.

Today we turned boring laundry day into a fun photo shoot starring our little 2-yr old!

I can’t believe my little girl is 2!  Margot has shot up like a weed in the last 2 years and I’m wondering where my baby went!  She has become a walking, talking little person that gives kisses, reads books, sings songs and sometimes even prefers nicknames like “Raspberry”, “Moo” and lately, “Daughter” lol!  And although she is a total sweetheart, we’re finding out that she has the ability to go into rages of fury just the same and within seconds.  Yes, she’s at THAT age now and she’s not afraid who knows it.  However, despite this “terrible-two” stage in Margot’s life, I can’t help but melt when I hear the sweet words, “Mama, I love you”.  Believe me, that’s all it takes.

So on this very special day, Jesse and I decided to have a very small, intimate gathering with just family in lieu of a big party like last year. And a tea party at Doctor Bombay’s Underwater Tea Party in Candler Park was just the ticket!  The tea and pastries were delicious and afterwards we played, wrestled and took pictures in the grass of our front yard.  Ah, simple joy!   Happy Birthday, Raspberry-Moo-Daughter!  We love you so much and hope you have an amazing year!

This year was a really great one and we’re so thankful for our health, our happiness and each other.  This year we made our little family holiday card a fun little photo shoot.  I wanted to do something cool with Christmas lights but wasn’t sure what.  We played around and initially the idea was for all us 3 to be in one photo but I think this Brady Bunch squares idea turned out to be much sillier and a lot more fun!  Thanks to Tiny Prints for having such great card templates to choose from!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!  Hope you enjoy the photos.  Here’s to another great year!

On Sunday we drove up to the Appalachian Mountains in Georgia to see Margot’s Oma (German for “grandmother”). April and Mike own a 10-acre farm they purchased a few years ago and have been making it their own ever since. April started this amazing garden with everything you can imagine; tomatoes, green beans, squash, lemon grass, zucchini, peppers, cantaloupes, watermelons, sweet potatoes, okra… and this doesn’t include all the herbs she has growing on the deck. This is incredible to me and a dream of mine to one day have a garden in my dream backyard too.  April and Mike also started raising chickens several months back. We were so excited to finally get to meet them in person, Margot in particular. She was so fascinated by these cool little creatures and even got to pet a few! In addition to the different kinds of chickens we also met some guineas and a rooster named Clyde. Oh Clyde, I think I’m in love with you and your gorgeous feathers. Clyde is totally macho and he’ll let you know it but we seemed to hit it off pretty well. I also think he liked getting his picture taken.

Thank you April & Mike for having us up again. We can’t wait to come up this fall when the leaves are turning.

Ladies & Gents I proudly introduce to you the coolest girl in the world… MARGOT! Margot is 17 months old. She loves reading books about babies, eating cookies, and hiding out in “Margot’s House” which is a little cardboard house constructed of packing tape and decorated with crayons that my husband created himself, thanks Papa! Margot can walk, say a hefty batch of words and imitate a ton of different animal sounds. Can you tell I’m obsessed with this face?!  We sometimes call her Margie and she’s our little gem.
